REMEMBERING OUR WAY FORWARD

Remembering Our Way Forward

2024
site specific animation

Through stop-motion animation and magical realism, “Remembering Our Way Forward” tells a story of land and people before colonization, the disruption that happened when colonization disconnected Indigenous peoples from land, and restoring our relationships with land to heal ourselves and the earth. This film mixes site-specific stop motion and traditional animation methods to “reanimate” the natural elements of earth, wind, and water, and reminds us to remember our histories and ancestries to find the answers to ecological crisis. Remembering Our Way Forward is created in partnership with Movement Generation and Sogorea Te’ Land Trust, who are partnering to liberate 43 acres of land and returning it to Indigenous care. This land is where the site-specific stop motion is shot.
